Samy is a native French speaker, seasoned investment banker and passionate creative. Prior to setting up Backdrop Ltd in 2017, he was managing the Capital Market Advisory desk of Genghis Capital, where he developed a comprehensive capital raising and M&A offering, unlocking access to USD 300m+ for a variety of East African Corporate clients. He had previously worked for global investment banks (Proparco, BNP Paribas, Rothschild &Co.) and ventured into various entrepreneurial initiatives alongside his investment banking career. Since 2017, he focuses on his creative path, leveraging his vast experience in storytelling and passion to generate a positive impact across the continent. He is actively engaged in changing narratives in Africa and uses his craft to unlock transformative change on how the African continent is perceived, and the ability to access sustainable development opportunities.
