Tolene van der Merwe is originally from South Africa and moved to the UK in 2005 with her husband. Tolene joined African Affair in London where she worked as Product Manager for the Africa brochure and was also given Romanian Affair to manage. In 2007 Tolene started her own boutique representation company which she ran until 2014 when she joined South African Tourism as the Hub Head for UK and Ireland on a 5 year contract. From here Tolene moved to Director UK and Ireland for the Malta Tourism Authority in 2019.
Tolene loves to travel and experience new adventures, but what has become more important over time is the responsible element to travel which also encompasses Diversity and Inclusion, something that is vital within destination/product marketing. Tolene is on the advisory board for the AITO diversity and inclusion project and is a board member for ANTOR.
